Herpesvirus Type 2-related Antigens and Their Relevance to Humoral and Cell-mediated Immunity in Patients with Cervical Cancer

چکیده
The central theme of this communicat ion is the interaction of herpes simplex virus type 2 with its host. In addit ion to the productive infect ion, we are confronted by latency and, as suggested by recent studies, by cancer. The possible mechanisms of latency and the role it may play as a precursor of carcinogenesis are discussed. If virus is to coexist with its host, a defined level of molecular interaction between host and viral gene products must exist. The association of AG-4 with active tumor growth and its identif icat ion as a minor virion protein, also exposed on the surface of the infected cell, open new vistas in the understanding of the role virus-host cell interactions may play in tumor growth. The modulat ion of the host immune response by the results of this interaction may play a signif icant role in cancer control. In these terms, the observation that antibody to AG-4 is a macroglobul in and that, therefore, immunity to AG-4 may be T-cell independent, should be given further considerat ion.

Effect of Immune Responses Against Hydatid Cyst Antigens on Growth of Melanoma Tumor
Background: Hydatid cyst is the larval stage of the tape worm parasite, Echinococcus granulosus. Human is infected by ingestion of parasite ova excreted in dog feces. The anticancer activity of different antigens of hydatid cyst has been reported in the previous works. In this research, the role of immune system in induction of this anticancer activity has been investigated.Materials and Method...
متن کاملImmunomodulatory activity of geranial, geranial acetate, gingerol, and eugenol essential oils: evidence for humoral and cell-mediated responses
Objective: The immunomodulatory effect of geranial, geranial acetate, gingerol, and eugenol essential oils were evaluated by studying humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Materials and Method: The essential oils were evaluated for immunomodulatory activity in in vivo studies, using rats as the animal model. The essential oils were tested for hypersensitivity and hemagglutination reaction...
متن کاملRecurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: Could It Be Related to Cell-Mediated Immunity Defect in Response to Candida Antigen?
Objective Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) is a common cause of morbidity affecting millions of women worldwide. Patients with RVVC are thought to have an underlying immunologic defect. This study has been established to evaluate cell mediated immunity defect in response to candida antigen in RVVC cases. MaterialsAndMethods Our cross sectional study was performed in 3 groups of RVVC pa...
متن کاملNatural mechanisms of controlling lymphotropic herpesvirus infection (Marek's disease) in the chicken.
Four categories of natural resistance phenomena against Mareks disease in chickens, i.e., maternal antibody, age resistance, genetic resistance, and natural immunization, are described. In nature, these forms of resistance probably act in concert through comlex interrelationships. The mechanisms are not well understood but include humoral immunity (maternal antibody), cell-mediated immunity, an...
متن کاملEVA LUATION OF THE ROLE OF CELL-MEDIATED IMMUNITY IN DERMATOPHYTOSIS
For demonstration of cell-mediated immunity and its role in the process of dermatophytosis, 98 patients with acute dermatophytosis (group I) and 131 chronic dermatophytosis patients (group 2) were chosen. In ail patients, lymphocyte transfonnation and skin test were used. 96 members of group I (98%) had positive delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) responses to trichophytin, whereas only 43 ...
